A technique on how to begin to write simple sentences using “This, These and There” With Singular and Plural Nouns among Year 5 Bitara for Paper 2 Section A question in English Language Primary School

ABSTRACT

Goldfish In Aqua Rules (GFAR) – A technique on how to construct simple sentences among Year 5 Bitara for Paper 2 Section A question in English Language Primary School. Almost 50% - 60% of the pupils are lack of interest in learning, still poor in reading and writing in text even the Malay Language. They are still does not know how to begin to write sentences even the simple structure. They are still very poor in basic grammar knowledge like the verb-to-be and verb-to-have. This research is just focusing on how to help the pupils in constructing simple and correct sentences. The pupils of Year 5 Bitara are still did not have good basic knowledge in how to begin to write simple sentences. So, this research is to give the basic technique for the pupils on how to construct the simple short correct sentences. It is just a simple tool and way for them to get the simple view and guidance on how to answer the question on Paper 2 Section A in English Language exam paper. The techniques of GFAR is consists of two parts, Part 1 : Goldfish Rules, that give the basic six sentences patterns for singular and plural nouns, and the Part 2 : Aqua Rules, that give the basic grammar that always used in constructing the simple and correct sentences. The technique of Part 1 is presented in simple way by introducing the Goldfish Song for all the pupils whereas the Part 2 is presented using the acronym of magic words for Aqua Rules. The GFAR presented in form of MS PowerPoint, MS Excel and Board of chart, to ensure that the pupils learn the technique in more creative and interesting ways. After conducting Pre-Test to identify the low level pupils, drilling processes are given for them to expose the basic sentences patterns by using the correct singular and plural nouns. Basic grammars are exposed to them using GFAR. While giving the Post-Test, the percentage of pupils that are able to construct the simple and correct sentences had increased and the technique really helps the pupils’ improvements in constructing at least 5 simple and correct sentences in Section A question for Paper 2 : Writing in English Language Primary School and in future hopefully they are able to pass in the main exam especially in English Paper during UPSR examination.
